Dr Javier Torres

Javier completed his basic physician training at Western Health in Melbourne. He completed the clinical diploma of palliative care in St. Vincent’s hospital Melbourne before starting his advance training in medical oncology, where he had exposure to a broad range of solid organ malignancies working in major metropolitan health providers such as Box Hill, St. Vincent’s and Western hospitals in Melbourne. He received his Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians in 2015 as Medical Oncologist.

Javier’s professional interest includes clinical trials and he keeps close contact with major metropolitan oncology services such as Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and St. Vincent’s hospital to improve access to clinical trials and new available treatments for our patients in Shepparton. His main interest includes the management of genitourinary malignancies such as prostate, colorectal and breast carcinomas. He also has great experience treating other malignancies including lung and melanoma with new available medications such as targeted therapy and immunotherapy.

Javier lives locally after moved with his family to Shepparton early in 2016 when appointed to a permanent public position as Medical Oncologist in Goulburn Valley Health. He also enjoys teaching and currently holds a position as Senior Lecturer with the Department of Rural Health, University of Melbourne.
